Travel & Leisure recently surveyed the most picturesque island paradise in the world. People voted for well-known destinations like Maui and Bora Bora. But none of the other islands stood a chance against Asia’s own Java Island in Indonesia.
Java is located just between Sumatra and Bali and is currently home to 141 million people. The island swept the poll and took the top spot. Meanwhile, Bali and Lombok took second and third, respectively.
This is the first time Java is featured on the World’s Best list. It will likely not be the last. People who took the survey easily rated the island 95.28 out of 100, and it can attribute its win thanks to its waterfalls, longstanding traditions, conservation areas, and of course the natural beauty of the island itself.
Other bucket list destinations on the island include Borobudur Temple, also known as the world’s most significant Buddhist place of worship, and Yogyakarta, Java’s cultural and artistic centre point, and Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, where nature lovers can bask at its lunar landscape as it frames the Bromo volcano.
Do you want to experience Java for yourself? Then don’t hesitate to book your flights and accommodations to see this island for yourself. While you’re at it, don’t forget to get an airport parking space for your car so that you can quickly drive yourself to the airport and leave your car there so you can drive yourself home after your adventure.
